FAQ.
Medicold propose des solutions isothermes personnalisables de haute qualité, conçus pour répondre aux besoins des entreprises cherchant à améliorer leur logistique, leur livraison et la visibilité de leur marque avec des solutions fiables à température contrôlée.
What is the cold chain?
The cold chain refers to all the steps, both logistical and domestic, involved in maintaining medical, food and pharmaceutical products at a set temperature to ensure their benefits.
Every product has to be kept at a certain temperature, and we work tirelessly to develop technologies that enable it to be transported in the best possible conditions.
Can you customize your isothermal packaging?
Our isothermal packaging can be custom printed.
However, this is limited to the following products:
- Insulated pouches
- Isothermal bags
- Isothermal boxes
Are your products French?
Our products are made in France at our factory in the Bordeaux region.
What is the shelf life of a heat-sensitive product?
This will depend on the following factors:
- Ambient temperature :
The higher the temperature, the more violent the attack on isothermal packaging. At sub-zero temperatures, it's very difficult to combat the cold, as the negative temperature attacks isothermal packaging even more strongly.
- Isothermal packaging: whatever the type of material and the thickness of the partitions, the ambient temperature will reach the inside of the packaging at some point. Important! Isothermal packaging is not a shield that can maintain products at +4°C inside with an outside temperature of +30° without the addition of cooling elements.
- The heat-sensitive product:
By its very nature, a heat-sensitive product placed in packaging without refrigerant will absorb the calories entering the packaging, acting as a eutectic. As a result, its temperature will rise.
- The eutectic charge :
To prevent the temperature from rising, we position a eutectic source which will absorb the heat first, thus protecting the heat-sensitive product. The eutectic charge must cover the entire product to be protected.
What is ISTA 3A validation?
This is a performance simulation test, or more precisely, a laboratory simulation of the mechanical stresses of transport.
ISOPRO packaging has been certified by UPS EUROPE following ISTA 3A validation.
ISOPRO trim has passed the following tests:
- Climatic preconditioning at 0 + 4°C of meat products
- 1st drop/shock test (simulating a parcel falling from a dock or truck)
- Random vibrations with 70 kg compression loads (simulation of the stresses experienced by the package in the truck during pick-up)
- 2nd drop/shock test (simulating a fall from a dock or truck)
- Random vibration without compression load (simulation of the stresses experienced by the package during "last mile" transport)
What does the AFNOR NF S 99-700 standard mean, and which products are standardized?
The AFNOR NF S 99-700 standard has been drawn up for the transport of pharmaceutical products in static-cold isothermal packaging.
It defines the test methodologies for the thermal validation of these packages.
It provides temperature profiles to be respected according to season and duration.
Are you committed to sustainable development?
Our teams, in collaboration with our raw materials suppliers, are constantly working to design tomorrow's isothermal packaging that is more respectful of our planet.
Most of our packaging is already reusable and recyclable through energy recovery.
Some of our products, such as ISOPRO, are manufactured using solar energy and rainwater recovery, and incorporate up to 10% recycled materials.
My gel sachet has burst and I've been in contact with the gel. Should I be worried about my health?
Our gel sachets are registered with the poison control center and classified as non-toxic. They therefore pose no risk to humans or animals in the event of contact or ingestion.
